The Mosan System builds culturally appropriate, circular, and climate-positive solutions through innovative technologies and processes — protecting health, preventing contamination, storing stable carbon, and recovering nutrients for reuse in agriculture. Together, these systems support long-term regeneration and resilience.
We use different treatment processes to transform diverse organic waste streams. At the core is our high-temperature pyrolysis that produces safe nutrient-rich biochar, we further enrich it into a ready-to-apply soil substrate. We pair product development with farmer training and landscape-level regeneration.
design and implementation of public sanitation services, collection and treatment of waste streams, such as excreta, sewage sludge, and agricultural residues that would otherwise contaminate water and soil or cause large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.
we formulate biologically active substrates that restore fertility, retain moisture, and build plant resilience.
our work creates significant climate contributions. Our current focus allows international coffee buyers to reduce emissions inside their supply shed.
A porous, carbon-rich soil input developed through more than six years of pyrolysis research, formulation work, and field testing. Designed to act like a sponge in the soil, our biochar-based substrates improve water retention, support biological activity, and help restore degraded soils.
Specialized formulations: We develop different biochar-based formulations for different agricultural uses, including urine-enriched biochar for high-nitrogen crops and worm-compost-enriched substrates for nurseries, field application, and reforestation.
The Mosan story began with a focus on sanitation solutions — pioneering off-grid ecological toilets with the award-winning Mosan Household Toilet and the safe treatment of human excreta. That work became the foundation for everything we do today: the same circular principle, now applied across waste streams and at landscape scale.
The current Mosan Toilet is a fully equipped cabin for public spaces, schools and events. It builds on the design of the former household toilet and brings new innovative features, such as a urine diversion system based on the “tea-pot principle” a waterless men's urinal and wood chip dispenser for “dry flushing” The toilet is part of the circular system and raises awareness about environmental protection and circular innovation through educational elements.
